Freebie... just because!!

I am really, really excited because I just bought my very first BRAND NEW CAR! My last car was a great car... 264,000 miles great. It took me everywhere for the past 9 years :) Actually 7 because my mom passed it onto me about 2 years after she got. So, today I bought a brand new Ford Fusion... awesome car! Here's kind of what it looks like:

Pretty right? Anyways, it came with 5 miles on it... yep 5. B-I-G step down from 264,000. Anyways, I wanted to share my excitement with you... what better way than to get a freebie! I hope you enjoy it and can use it next week!

This is a center that I'll be using this week. I put together plastic Easter eggs. One side has an addition or subtraction problem and then the other has the answer... It's tricky though because I mixed the colors up! The kids will record the sentence and answer PLUS color the top and bottom color on the egg. Don't you just LOVE the awesome DJ Inkers clipart. It's adorable!!

Literacy Centers... with a Freebie!

I did the Monday scramble today... No, it's not like the Harlem Shake. It's the "uh-oh, I forgot that last center" shuffle that happens on Monday mornings of some weeks. I happened to pop on over to Pinterest to my Word Wall/Study board of mine and found this awesome sight that I had pinned:

She has fantastic ideas! She even has this awesome list of Working on Words. I loved one of her ideas to have her kids stamp their sight words. I was loving that my students are also mature enough to handle this now! Here is my freebie for the day that is going along with this center:

Measuring Day 1: Pinterest How I Love Thee!

I love the beginning of something new... especially a new math unit! We are starting our discovery of measurement in our classroom. While we have done some measuring throughout  this year it's our first official unit on measurement. I am so excited!!! Why you may ask? Well after much searching of Pinterest I found some awesome ideas!

I wanted to start Day 1 with this awesome chart from Joyful Learning in KC: How awesome is it?
Pinned Image

I loved what my students came up with today. Here's our chart:

Not quiet as cute but it definitely showed their learning! My kids did a really good job on their measuring and recording sheets. Many of them showed their awesome writing skills by copying my modeled sentence: "I measured a crayon. It was 5 cubes long."

I'm really looking forward to measuring these cute guys tomorrow:

They came from an awesome set by Nicole Ricca of Mrs. Ricca's Kindergarten. There is a whole set that I'm going to color tonight for the kids to measure tomorrow :) I can't wait!

What is your favorite way to teach measurement?
