Work Station Wednesday: Drama Work Station

Wow did this week generate some ideas! I am thinking that I actually have too many ideas going on in my head these days! So, I thought I would share some of the amazing ideas of others too!

Drama center would be a new one for me to add this year but I'm thinking my kiddos would love it. Debbie Diller recommends introducing one book at a time and limiting what you put in the center. So, my thinking is that after we spend a week on a book in my room (at the beginning of the year we do one week on major books like Brown Bear or Chicka Chicka Boom Boom), it goes into the Drama center with activities that go along with the book.

The main idea though is to practice retelling of the book. The drama work station is really all about the kids differentiating for themselves: students who can read- do, students who can't read- use the pictures, students who need assistance- work with their partners. It's engaging and fun while they practice. The best of both worlds!

Check out these great resources for drama:

Check out this great site too for more ideas! She has broken down several MAJOR books with activities for each one!

I'm also quite in love with Little Giraffe's and Hubbard's Cupboard's ideas. Love it!

What is your favorite activity to do in drama center? Do you do drama center?

  1. Thanks Jennifer for sharing the books I have broken down as part of our retell literacy center! I hope your kiddos love it as much as mine do!
