Pumpkin Investigators with Deanna Jump!

I loved, loved using Deanna Jump's pumpkin investigations activity. Look at this science and math fun!

I must say that my parents are AH-MAZING this year! I had pumpkins out the wazoo this year!

Check out our investigator's notebooks. These are one of Deanna Jump's wonderful, wonderful creations! It is filled with TONS of great activities! I love that this is a perfect activity for Fall in general.. not just Halloween!

(Click the picture to check out the unit!)

We got to measure how tall our pumpkins are:

Do they float or sink? This part blew the kids minds!

Some did this:

but there were a few that FLOATED! My kids really couldn't figure out why they did.. our best hypothesis was that some had more seeds in it than others.

How fat is your pumpkin? Make a guess and find out!

This was such an awesome activity! The best part? I've giving away a copy of Ms. Deanna Jump's fabulous Pumpkin Patch Palooza!

  1. This looks like so much fun! I'd love to do this in the last few days before our Thanksgiving break since my kinder-bears seem to sense when a holiday vacation is coming and focus must be RE-positioned. I am in Orlando and what I love about fall is when the temp. finally gives us cool evenings without having to follow a day of rain. I love the quiet evenings on our patio watching the birds flying in from all over the country to make a quick stop at our pond. I love planning my baking, even more than the actual act itself.
